Oh yeah, remember that time in our lives? Well, aside from the traumatic world events, 2020 is the year I officially got into "birding." Really, my interest in nature and birds had always been there, an undercurrent in my whole life. One prime example: as a child, I was OBSESSED with puffins. Unsurprisingly, I still am!

But I digress . . . in 2020, we all started looking at our surroundings more and I began to notice all kinds of birds in our region. A little app called Merlin helped me identify these neighbors I had never known of before . . . then I got my first pair of binoculars for Christmas . . . then I went on a bird walk with a group during a spring migration . . . and a "new" love was officially unlocked!

Birds had always been present in small ways in my artwork with exit343design. I love pattern and colors and what are birds but tiny, colorful balls of pattern? But with my new hobby of birding and growing knowledge of local birds, the floodgates had opened and I can't stop drawing them. It's to the point where I think my main audience at exit343design could be growing tired of it, so I decided to start Bird Nerd Goods as a way to channel this energy to an audience who may appreciate it more.
